Plant Care

Air plants or tillandsia are non-parasitic organisms that grow up the woody surfaces of other plants. A wide variety of air plants can be found growing wild in tropical and subtropical regions.

Since they do not grow in soil, they rely on air and rain for their water and nutrient needs. The ideal growing condition for indoors is in an air terrarium. open glass globe, in bright but indirect sunlight. Give your plant a water bath, once a week in the summer, and every other week in the winter depending on the humidity of your space. If your plants are getting dry at the tips it means they’re underwatered, if they’re brown at the base then they’re overwatered.

Water Baths

Remove the glass globe from the stand. Fill the globe and plant with approximately 4 oz. of tap water (up to the bottom of the base of the neck.) Add half a dropper of the AirGold plant food (approximately 12 drops.) Gently swirl the globe for a few seconds to remove any large air bubbles. Place the globe back in the stand and allow the plant to bathe for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from the stand and pour the water out. Gently shake to remove as much of the water as possible. Return the globe to the holder and place in bright indirect sunlight.
